Charlotte and Frederick Hubbell Professor of
Environmental and Natural Resources Law

University of Iowa College of Law

Welcome Colleagues, Students,
                     and Former Students . . .

In 40 years at the Vanderbilt University School of Law and the University of Iowa College of Law, I have had the privilege of teaching 6,409 students in 152 courses. At Iowa, 5,294 students since 1987 have taken one or more courses in Civil Procedure, Evidence, Environmental Law, or Citizen Enforcement of Environmental Laws. At Vanderbilt, 1,115 students took one or more of these courses from 1979 to 1987. Over the years, I have come to the podium almost 8,000 times, frequently at 8:00 in the morning! What’s more, because I had the pleasure of seeing many of you in more than one class, I’ve actually taught a total enrollment of 9,781.

If you are a former student, it would be great to hear from you. Please email me at J-Stensvaag@uiowa.edu. If you are a colleague, I would also be delighted to hear from you.

If you’d like to know more about my background, here is a link to my Biography. Here is a link to my Bibliography, which lists my publications.

Here is the complete text of my Seminar Materials on Environmental Citizen Suits.

First-Year Students: Evidence as a 1L Elective

If you are a current first-year student and are considering the possibility of taking Evidence as your 1L elective next spring, you may want to download the results of an informal survey of the 35 first-year students who enrolled in my Evidence course in a previous spring semester. You may obtain that document here.
